Here is the way to learn how to change port 80. Before going further, lets say you need to forward port 6889 to a computer with an internal IP is 192.168.1.10.

Step 1: Find your address in the IP gateway. To get in Windows, select Start then Run. Write "cmd" n blank space and press enter. You will see a command window now write "ipconfig" and hit Enter. The screen will show the default gateway. Note it down.

Step 2: Open your browser and enter your gateway to Step 1 in the address bar and press Enter. A window will ask you to login to your router with a username and password.Write your user id and related password. If you do not remember, try the default ones below:

Linksys router: Default username "" password "admin" Linksys router: username default "admin" password "password" Belkin router: Default username "" password ""

D-Link router: username default "admin" password "" Gateway router: username default "admin" password "admin" If you can not remember the password, then write it down.

Step 3: For Belkin routers, selection of virtual servers from the left menu. In place of description write anything. Type "6889" or the port number required in both fields for inbound ports. Do the same for private port areas. Select the connection type from the menu. If you do not know what you need, try UDP. If it does not try to come back and TCP. In the private IP address address field, enter the computer you need the login provided. In our case it is 192.168.1.10

Linksys routers, select "Application and gaming" in the top menu, and the transmission Select 'portrange' in the submenu. In another family of Linksys routers, you can find 'Tab section Forwarding "under" Advanced "from the main setup page. Rest of process is the same as for Belkin routers above. Netgear router, you will find "Port Forwarding" under the table "advanced" on the main page. Repeat.
